Early Second Language Acquisition

Our neighbors in Watertown and Weston have Spanish/Foreign Language integrated into their curriculum from Kindergarten as a special subject akin to art and physical education. In Weston, students are encouraged to attain the state's Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing students who have accomplished proficiency in two languages. We can also have our cake and eat it too by integrating immersive Spanish into the already existing Drama special for students to embrace Spanish speaking, listening, and reading while learning about story lines, characters, and plot. Waltham needs to move forward with our neighbors to give our students better opportunities in their future world of work and in the global community.
